(00:04:11) - Graduates filmed video responses to questions from the comfort of their own home
(00:05:41) - Entire project done in 4 days; would have taken over a month without VideoMyJob

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_00]: at Deloitte Australia.
[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_00]: In our chat, Poncho discusses how Deloitte is revolutionising their graduate recruitment
[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_00]: marketing strategy using employee story videos.
[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_00]: He also shares details on how his team implemented VideoMyJob to efficiently gather 102 authentic
[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_00]: employee stories from graduates across Australia in just 4 days.
[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And also, how they plan to use this video content to boost engagement on graduate job
[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_00]: sites.
[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're keen to learn how to elevate your recruitment marketing strategy with employee
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_00]: story videos, then this episode is for you.
[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So Poncho, thank you so much for joining me on the VideoMyJob pod today.
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I know you and your team at Deloitte have been working really hard to revolutionise
[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: your recruitment marketing strategy for your grad program.
[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm really excited to not only hear about your VideoMyJob journey, but also to share
[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_00]: it with our listeners today.
[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: So thank you.
[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And firstly, I'll get you to introduce yourself to our listeners.
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: So just if you could tell us a little bit about your role and your team.
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, cool.
[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Meg, thank you very much for having me.
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_01]: A little bit about me well.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_01]: My name is Poncho.
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I work at Deloitte.
[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I am a senior consultant in the employee branding team.
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And the way that my team works is like there's six of us, a manager and people who focus
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: on different areas like website analytics, like social incomes and eminence and external
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: comps and reports.
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's how our team works.
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And what motivated you to seek out a solution like VideoMyJob, Poncho?
[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Look, we do a lot of content, a lot, a lot, a lot of content.
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You can imagine like we are one of the main, like we employ over 3000 graduates a year.
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So you can imagine that the stuff that we need to get out is pretty intense.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And we work really closely with Grad Connection.
[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So when they told us about a pilot with you guys and my manager has worked with
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_01]: you in the past, he was like, yeah, you should definitely take it.
[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And we're like, cool, let's do it.
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And we went all in.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: That's why.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And what was the status quo?
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: What were you guys doing prior to getting VideoMyJob on board?
[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we used to do everything ourselves.
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So I think one of the benefits of working in a company like Deloitte is that we have
[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_01]: a lot of resources, right?
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_01]: So we have a team that does video and we have people who can edit and all those things.
[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: But they serve as the entire firm, right?
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So you can imagine that sometimes getting stuff done takes a little bit of time,
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_01]: depending on how busy they are.
[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: But the post-production side of things can take a very long time.
[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Also, there's only one of me and I'm based in Melbourne.
[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: So if I have to interview graduates in different parts of the country and all that stuff,
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: then I rely on all the parts of the business to help me with that.
[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes it doesn't happen as nicely as you would like it to happen.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just asking someone to do me a favor and then they don't understand
[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_01]: the aesthetic that I'm going for sometimes.
[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes it would take a little bit longer to get something done.
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, look, I completely understand and I myself am in a marketing role and I do get it.
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Like some teams kind of just kind of get to pop to the wayside while we have to focus
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and prioritize.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I completely understand.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Now Poncho, what was your...
[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Because I know your implementation approach has been quite unique.
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you share the process you and your team followed getting employee stories for this project?
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, when you say the word unique, it's absolutely...
[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I've never worked in this way before.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: We had like because of the pilot and everything, we had to turn everything around really fast.
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, like it's one thing when you have to develop one video,
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: but then when you have like 30 graduates across the country,
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: it was pretty interesting because I think the way that video, my job has streamlined
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: the questions and everything, it was very, very easy for us.
[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So like it took us only four days to turn it around.
[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Four days to get like a hundred and something videos.
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It was pretty cool because the way that it happened is we chose the graduates
[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: that we wanted to talk to and like in all these different areas of the country,
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: like Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, like we have grads everywhere.
[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We briefed them.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: In that briefing process, we showed them how to use the tool.
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, in like three days, all the videos were done and I just had to sit down
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and get the popcorn out and just watch them and just vet them.
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I love this.
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I love this.
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, just back to our conversation we were having previously,
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: relying on internal teams to kind of help you out.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I can imagine just having something, a tool of your own that you can use
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: is really empowering, particularly when you are servicing different parts.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're servicing different parts of Australia
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and you're not able to always be in those different parts all the time.
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So I really do journey.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And Poncho, can I just say you have done an incredible job getting
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: 102, by the way, because I've checked, 102 employee stories in what?
[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Four days.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_00]: How long do you think that would have taken you if you did not have a platform
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: like video my job?
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Because as you were saying before, you know, you guys were relying on other teams
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: to help you out, but now you've actually got a tool that you and your team can use
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: that's empowering you to create content for yourself.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, if you could talk us through how long that would have taken you
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: if you didn't have us.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think it would be very hard to tell you like how much it would take,
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_01]: but definitely more than a month.
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Like if you're thinking about like planning storyboarding, recording,
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_01]: post-production to get some of these things absolutely over a month,
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: maybe even two, because there's like, as you said, like 102 videos.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It takes a real long time.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I do some of the editing myself and after five videos a week, I'm like,
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: okay, you know what?
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm done.
[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's enjoyable.
[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: But after doing the same thing over and over, you're like, okay,
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_01]: just give me a break.
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it would have taken so much longer.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for sharing that because I'm pretty sure that many people
[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_00]: listening on the call would appreciate that or would be in the similar position
[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_00]: as you were before Video My Job where you were trying to create that on your own
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_00]: or waiting for other teams within your business to help you out with that.
[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_00]: But just coming back, so look, getting 102 videos from graduates
[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: is an incredible result, as we said.
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And for EB teams listening and thinking, okay, that's great
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: because you did mention before about editing.
[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So they're probably thinking, that's great, but what about the editing involved?
[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you talk us through, because I know that you've been using our latest
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_00]: auto AI editing feature that's currently in the beta at the moment.
[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So can you talk us through your experience with editing using our beta feature?
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel very confident to tell you there was no editing involved at all.
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_01]: At all.
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So I pretty much had the videos and reviewed that the content was good,
[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_01]: they were not reaching client confidentiality or anything like that.
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Ahead of time, I sent a sample video to David and he just slapped it on the software
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and then it literally just came across exactly like we do our videos,
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_01]: like with the bars and the lines and the text and everything was exactly the same.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I did not have to touch anything to edit, zero.
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I love this.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And can we just repeat that zero editing people, like I myself, I do a lot of videos as well
[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and I know that the editing part can be quite time consuming.
[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it is in beta at the moment and we're hoping to release that out
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: to all of our customers to do more testing.
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: But I'm so glad that you had such a great experience with that feature
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and that it came out exactly as you would had you edited it.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Great feedback.
[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for that.
[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep, sorry.
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: No, so good.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a great experience.
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Amazing.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And lastly, Poncho, what are some of the metrics
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: that you're looking to improve using Video My Job once you actually do go live
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: with Story Feed with all your employee stories for graduates?
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you talk us through some of your key strategy
[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and what you're planning to do within that space?
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So because this is a pilot that's going on Grad Connection, right?
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's where most of the graduates look for jobs and interns.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So these like, like Grad Connection is one of the biggest in the country really.
[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes some of the metrics that we get from them
[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_01]: is the amount of time that people spend on our profile.
[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And look, putting a profile together takes a little bit of time, right?
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So you have to get some new like, like testimonials and stories
[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and like describing your all your programs and dates and all that stuff.
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes the amount of time that students spend on the profile is very limited.
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And I expect this to change because now there are videos that they can watch
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and they can see our people talking about what their actual experience has been like.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: They talk about the projects that they're working on.
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_01]: They even give advice to people on how to succeed about like on
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_01]: the process at Deloitte.
[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm expecting to see some of these numbers to increase
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: for them to spend a little bit more time on our profile
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: to really get acquainted with who we are, right?
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: At the same time, this will increase engagement.
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Like if they feel that the brand is a little bit more genuine
[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: and not everything out there is like super curated
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're just seeing a graduate recording a video from the comfort of their own home.
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot more reliable.
[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_01]: So I think engagement will probably go up as well.
[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I love this.
[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And just for context for our listeners, because even though I've not been fully involved in
[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: the project, I've definitely been sort of watching in the background and seeing your guys' success.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, as we said before, you guys got 102 videos in four days.
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_00]: But just to give our listeners context in terms of you put out questions
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and graduates were either filming from home or in the office
[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and they were just answering authentically about the experiences, Poncho.
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And some of the questions, can you talk us through some of the questions
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: that they had to answer on the day or when you were going through that process?
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So we sent them something similar to a Google form
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: where they have to answer their questions, right?
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And so the process is like this.
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: We send them that form.
[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: The questions that we ask are like, why did you choose Deloitte?
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: What is something that you're interested about,
[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_01]: that's interesting about your job or a project that you worked on?
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: What does coaching look like or mentoring look like?
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: What is the growth side of things here?
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: All these different things that graduates are interested in.
[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Once we choose those answers, we allocate.
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So for example, let's say that person X had a really good answer for projects.
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_01]: So I assigned that question to person X.
[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And then because you guys have a scripting tool that works through AI as well.
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And that created the script for them to follow.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: So they don't even have to think about what they're going to say.
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_01]: The system does everything for them.
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so easy.
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Amazing.
[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And so our system is helping them write these scripts, right?
[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: They then answering or they talking about the experience on video
[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and graduates are then able to come in and see that
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and see these authentic employee stories from graduates
[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_00]: about the experience with Deloitte.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And then 102 of them as well.
[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that is incredible.
[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Incredible faith.
[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_00]: That is so great.
[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I just love this story, Poncho.
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, imagine it just go through all of the end products.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: So once all the videos were like with the brand and everything,
[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: it took me maybe like 10 hours to go through all of them
[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and vet them and like really say, cool, it's all done.
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Imagine if I had to go to Perth to record a video.
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: That would only cover the amount of time that it would take me
[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_01]: to go from here to there and back.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: In that time, I did Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney,
[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Western Sydney, like Canberra.
[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, everything was done.
[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So it was pretty good.
[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So efficient as well.
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so great.
[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And, Poncho, I know this is only the beginning of your journey
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_00]: because you've only joined us as a customer
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_00]: in the last couple of months, really.
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_00]: You've hit the ground running,
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_00]: got all of these videos in your arsenal
[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and you guys are going to be going live with everything soon.
[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So I would love to get you back in the next couple of months
[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_00]: to see how that all goes.
[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And we can sort of chat through some of the key results
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and some of your successes that you've gotten as part of this.
[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So we'll definitely get you back
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_00]: because I'm sure our listeners would love to hear,
[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, how it's all gone.
[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, perfect.
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I would love that.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Fantastic.
[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Look, thank you so much for your time, Poncho.
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_00]: As I said, I've just loved hearing about your story
[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and thank you so much for sharing that with us today.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: No, thank you.
[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_01]: My pleasure.
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
